About

Hi! I’m Eric Holmes and an author.  Originally, I started out in nonfiction.  I spend years studying counterinsurgency while in the Army.  I worked at the U. S. Army Counterinsurgency Center and was sent by the Center for Army Lessons Learned to study the topic in Iraq. This background led to me co-writing a chapter in FM 3-22 Army Support for Security Cooperation.

Before that I wrote Iraq: Providing Hope, which is a collection of good news stories written in the aftermath of all the negative publicity against the Army in 2004. It didn’t sell that many copies, but it put me on a tour of radio shows. After my tour in Iraq in 2007, I made this video to support the narrative of good news – “Ramadi: I Believe.”  My first book that I published was Set Sail for Success.  Over the years I have written a few articles for AmericanThinker.com

Now I am fully invested in writing a series of novels following the lifespan of one character, Matt Finnish.  In this sage, Matt makes mistakes in his life and finally in the end learns his life’s true purpose. The first Matt Finnish story is a middle grade short story taking place when Matt is in sixth grade.

The second edition of the Matt Finnish saga will be finished soon.  It is my thesis for a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Liberty University.  It is a middle grade coming-of-age story of Matt when he is in seventh grade.

I live with my wife of 35 years in Panama City Beach, Florida. We have two grown sons and one grandson. Originally from Dallas, Texas and have lived in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington and Missouri. My hobbies are painting and pickle ball.
